A space of understanding when life shifts

I’m Alexandra, a psychodynamic counsellor based in Worcestershire. My practice is rooted in the belief that our past relationships, losses, and inner longings continue to shape how we relate to ourselves and the world — and that there is meaningful potential in understanding them.

Why I became a counsellor
My own journey into counselling wasn’t a straight path. I spent earlier years working in ecology and conservation, then in nutrition, before retraining in my 40s in psychodynamic counselling. Along the way, I experienced change, grief, and transformation personally — and learned deeply what it means to rebuild, to heal, and to find one’s centre again.

This lived experience, combined with rigorous training (including personal psychotherapy throughout), informs how I hold space for others. I understand both the vulnerability and the courage it takes to seek help — and I honour that with deep respect, integrity, and compassion.

My approach

  • Psychodynamic and relational: I offer a reflective, attuned space for exploring emotional patterns, unconscious influence, and relational histories. We work together in a way that respects your pace and your story, bringing insight to recurring themes and finding room for change.
  • Grief-literate: I have specialist training in grief and loss, and I understand how grief can shape identity, relationships, and sense of meaning — often long after the most acute phase has passed.
  • Mindful presence: As a trained meditation and mindfulness teacher, I gently integrate an awareness of the body, breath, and inner experience into our work. This helps ground exploration and supports you in cultivating a steady, compassionate relationship with yourself.

Who I work with
I support adults navigating:

  • Loss, bereavement, and the ongoing effects of grief
  • Major life transitions — such as identity shifts, career changes, or midlife questions
  • Relationship difficulties rooted in early experience or long-standing patterns
  • A desire for deeper self-connection, meaning, and purpose

Whether you need short-term guidance or longer, deeper therapy, my aim is to walk alongside you — helping you make sense of where you are, untangle what feels stuck, and re-discover your grounded sense of self.

A little about me, when I’m not in session
I continue to learn and grow — in my life and in my work. Outside of my work, I read, write, enjoy time in nature, and reflect on the deeper currents of change and meaning in life. My own path of transformation inspires how I support others to navigate theirs.

An invitation
Therapy takes courage, and I’m deeply honoured by anyone who considers doing this work with me. If you’d like to talk about starting, I would be glad to share more and find out if this feels like a good fit.
